PAP Smear/HPV testing

PAP smear and HPV testing are part of cervical screening. During this process, a sample of cells is collected from the cervix and sent for testing. Screening is available to women aged 25 to 64. The body’s immune system can typically fight off HPV within 2 years. However, its risk can be reduced through consistent condom use and HPV vaccination.

PAP Smear report can be:

1. Normal
2. ASCUS (Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance)
3. LSIL (Low-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion)
4. HSIL (High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion)

HPV has no treatment. The body’s immunity has a capacity to fight against it in 2 years. However it can be prevented to a certain extent with consistent and religious use of condoms and HPV vaccination
