A typical menstrual period lasts between 2 to 7 days. The time between two menstrual cycles can range from 23 to 35 days, with an average of 28 days.
The different menstrual problems can be:
1. Dysmenorrhea – Mild period pain is normal, but pain that significantly affects daily activities and quality of life should be investigated. 2. Menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) – Heavy bleeding with clots or frequent leakage requiring frequent changes of sanitary pads needs evaluation. 3. Post-Coital Bleeding – Bleeding or spotting after sexual activity can be caused by chlamydia, endocervical polyps, or cervical erosion. 4. Metrorrhagia – Bleeding between periods may be due to endometrial or endocervical polyps, among other causes. 5. Irregular periods 6. Missed Periods – Can be caused by pregnancy, menopause, stress, or excessive exercise. 7. Premenstrual Syndrome – Symptoms like headaches, bloating, cramps, and breast tenderness occurring in the second half of the menstrual cycle. 8. Ovulation pain – Midcycle pain experienced during ovulation.
